Car jacking is the commandeering of a motor vehicle through the assault and/or physical injury upon a person while the vehicle is occupied. This crime requires the vehicle to be taken against the will of the driver and by means of force or fear. California Penal Code 215. Typically the car jackers are armed and the driver is forced out of the vehicle with the threat or issuance of bodily injury or death.
